Abstract

Problem. The modern economy is developing in conditions of dynamic changes in the external environment, the influence of which on the innovative activity of enterprises is becoming less predictable. In these circumstances, enterprises are forced to adapt their innovation development strategies to new economic conditions. The existing methodological tools for assessing the innovative development of enterprises also need to be revised. The accumulated scientific and methodological experience poorly reflects the influence of external factors that determine the specifics of the functioning of the modern innovation sphere. Under these conditions, there is a need to develop a methodological apparatus for assessing the innovative development of enterprises, which ensures high-quality information and analytical support for the strategy of scientific and technical development of the economy. Methodology. Methods of statistical analysis, scientific synthesis and generalization, logical analysis, and systematization were used. The methodological tools for analyzing the state of competition in commodity markets and calculating statistical indicators of the level of innovative activity of enterprises were applied. Research Results. A methodological approach to assessing the innovative development of service sector enterprises has been proposed. This approach involves a comprehensive study of indicators of innovative activity and the state of competition in the industry using matrix tools. The advantage of the proposed methodological approach lies in its use of official statistical information, as well as consideration of factors in the dynamically changing external competitive environment that influence the process of innovation development and implementation. A quantitative analysis of the state of competition and the level of innovative activity of enterprises in the telecommunications and information technology sectors of Russia has been conducted. A correlation has been established between the level of market concentration, the intensity of competition, and the degree of innovative activity of enterprises. It has been shown that different combinations of these factors lead to various scenarios of innovative development, depending on the specific characteristics of the industry. Regularities of innovative development of the studied enterprises have been identified, confirming the necessity of simultaneously considering factors of competition and innovative activity to provide a complete picture of the level of innovative potential. It is concluded that accounting for the competitive component of the external environment significantly improves the quality of assessing innovative development and enhances the validity of managerial decisions made. Practical Application. The research results can serve as a basis for improving the system of information and analytical support for the management processes of innovative development in service sector enterprises.
