LEAN MANUFACTURING SYSTEM IN SMALL BUSINESS SETTINGS

This article analyzes and adapts the principles of Lean manufacturing for small businesses. It examines key Lean tools such as the 5S system, Just-in-Time, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and the Kanban system. Special attention is given to how small businesses can implement these principles without significant financial investment, focusing on eliminating "waste" such as overproduction, excess inventory, unnecessary movement, and waiting. The article discusses both the significant advantages and potential drawbacks of implementing Lean principles for small businesses. It also highlights the necessity of fundamental transformation of corporate culture, focusing on customer needs, and striving for continuous improvement rather than simply implementing individual tools. The article emphasizes that Lean philosophy is not a set of strict rules, but a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen), which is particularly relevant for small teams. Based on the analysis of a practical example and theoretical approaches, it is concluded that applying Lean allows small businesses not only to reduce costs and improve product quality but also to significantly enhance organizational flexibility and responsiveness to market changes.Downloads
